xxxHolic ep.23 (finale)
When I first saw xxxHolic I thought it would be those type of emo programs, like "the dark black master of the black hole of the black world who will turn this world black" (kinda quoted from the Evangelion comedy drama CDs ^^U) I mean, just take a look at the logo isn't it gothic like? :
How to annoy Kimihiro like Mokona:
- Ask for gourmet food
- Ask him to clean the house, take off the dusk and make some food
- Piss him off
- Drink loads of sake
- Ask for even more sake
- Get drunk and get him to take care of you
- Attack him with a giant snow-robot
- Whisper with Yuuko whatever he's desperate to know in front of him
And the first and most important technique of all: Retort on his surname
So poor Kimihiro is left doing the chores such as cooking (which he is extremelly good at), the laundry, cleaning the dust out of sofas and antiques, serving Yuuko and Mokona... he'd be an excellent house wive O.o or better, a perfect husband for the girls who love to work.
This kind of stuff is what makes xxxHolic special. It holds phylosophical themes and supernatural issues but does not go into the gothic cliche (i don't even know if this show can be called "gothic") By episode 9 I fell in love with this anime *w*
Despite being marked as "horror" and "phylosophical" they made a hell lot of parodies on purpose such as in the first episodes when Kimihiro had to wear audiphones to hear Yuuko's instructions and these were shaped or purpose to look like Chobit's cat-like ears. Couldn't get enough of Doumeki telling him "You look stupid." "REPEAT THAT!" "You look stupid." Kinda reminds me of what happened at my school in biology class. In further chapters u find even more, specially in the snow battle one (OMG! I was rolling on the floor) Yuuko's snowman fighter was a soldier from Starcraft and damn, he shot like hell xD
Of course Kimihiro is not only annoyed in Yuuko's shop but in school as well. He's got a crush on a girl called Himawari but he's jealous of her paying attention to another classmate, Doumeki. At the start of the series Doumeki practically ignored and hated Kimihiro's explosive temper and sudden raises of voice but as the series go on and they're practically forced to work as a team, his hobby becomes annoying the hell out of him
How to annoy Kimihiro like Doumeki:
- Eat his food
- Eat his crush's food
- Ask him to prepare super rare gourmet foods
- Call him a moron
- Counter back whatever he says to you several times (ep 19 woah! super counter xDDDDD)
- Interrumpt whenever he's talking with his crush
- Be super uber sarcastic
And the first and most important technique of all: Appear out of nowhere
The pair of them provide the comic relief for this series
Today I finished it :)
The final episode was the best overall epi of all
The funiest was ep. 19 and the most thrilling, ep.9
I'm not going to spoil the episode (well, not so much)

xxxHolic - Finale
In the previous episode he had met a beautiful lady in her mid 30s who reminded him of his mother and he reminder her of her lost son. However there's something about this woman that weakens Watanuki each day even more and more.
After faiting several times and receiving a warning from Yuko he ignores it and when he looks at his hand after coughing like mad he finds it is nearly covered in blood. His body betrays him and he faints with Yuko still on the phone shouting his name.
The episode starts when the twin sisters get him out and Doumeki takes care of him. Doumeki explains him the reason. "Yuuko told me" then Kimihiro inquires "Why?" he bothered to take care of him. "Yuuko told me" Oh god, Doumeki's attitude hasn't changed x)
Later at school Himawari tells him about Doumeki and his hard training but Kimihiro didn't have the courage to ask her if she liked that guy. Then there's a camera shot which shows Doumeki's worried expression and determination, a foreshadow for what he will do further on this episode.
The glasses boy remembers the call but even so he still goes to see that woman (poor Watanuki T____T he WAS REALLY sick, all rolling over the floor because of the heavy coughing). He tells her he came despite how his health was at that moment because he felt alone when she felt alone, after all, he had lost his parents and she had lost her only child. However Kimihiro gets worse and coughs so much he ends up lying on the floor, shaking. The woman wants to help him but before she could even touch him Doumeki appears out of nowhere shouting her to stop.
The woman whom Kimihiro adopted as his new mother was murdered by Doumeki.
This chapter was the closure to Doumeki's feelings towards Kimihiro. Yuuko explains to the glasses boy that he did that in order to keep him alive despite how much he would hate him. The woman while dying told him that Doumeki needed him so he shouldn't feel alone. Simmilar statements said the same in older episodes and after Kimihiro remembers how much the other boy had done for him, those times he saved his life, even waiting 10 hours under the rain to ensure he is ok, he starts to cry.
I just love their friendship *w* so beautiful despite how much they tend to argue, well, sure Kimihiro is so hot tempered O.o
It's very interesting how some people think Doumeki is homosexual xD sure there's hell of proof of that but I believe in friendship between those too. So cute ^^
Anyway I loved the series and I'll post some of xxxHolic Yuuko's teachings such as the avoidance of joy and so on.
I used to see this series while I was colouring my fanarts too keep me from dying of boredom thus to make 'em quicker. I'm not into emo characters and when I first saw Kimihiro Watanuki I thought he would be one of those. I remember saying "damn, he looks like Harry Potter xD"
